The forming simulation is a tool that allows us to get a deeper insight into processes, to better understand forming stress and finally to estimate the feasibility of the component. Furthermore, we are capable to estimate the process robustness of a product by means of process deviations and tolerances.

With forming simulation, a product can be controlled regarding its qualitative and quantitative characteristics which include sheet metal thickness, stress and strain distribution as well as the emergence of cracks, wrinkles and edges that occur during different stages of the forming process. Another important aspect in the simulation of sheet metal forming is the spring back analysis and the resulting compression. Besides, the surface pressure at the tool surface is determined.
